Nathalie Dortonne

Nathalie Dortonne received her Bachelors in Journalism and African American Studies from the University of Florida. Her senior thesis was entitled "Breaking the Mainstream Stereotypes: The Role of Black Women Image Creators."

Nathalie served as a legislative intern in the Florida Capitol under Representative Gwyndolen Clarke-Reed and Senate Democratic Leader Chris Smith. Nathalie spent the summer of 2014 in Washington, D.C. as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Congressional intern in Congressman Alcee Hastings office. As a Digital Public Affairs Fellow, Nathalie created content and social media campaigns for The 316 Group. She was a news intern at ABC-affiliate WCJB TV20 in Gainesville, Fla. Nathalie is also the winner of the American Society of News Editors Picture Freedom Contest, 2015 National Association of Black Journalists' Student Multimedia Project Fellowship recipient, 2015 National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Collegiate Winner Photography - Single Image & the 2014 recipient of the Radio Television and Digital News Foundation Carole Simpson scholarship. Nathalie participated in the 2015 Politico Journalism Institute, 2015 Excellence in Journalism Conference & the 2015 Online News Association student newsroom.

Nathalie worked as a network program scheduler assistant for CNN International/CNN en Español at the CNN headquarters in Atlanta,GA. While at CNN, Nathalie wrote several stories and two African Voices packages. Her viral story about 'The dangers of poverty porn' made the CNN homepage and garnered over a million views within several days. Nathalie was interviewed about her CNN poverty porn story on TBS eFM’s “This Morning,” an English-language radio program in Seoul, South Korea. Past guests included: Malcolm Gladwell (Author of Tipping Point & Outliers), Noam Chomsky (MIT Linguist & Philosopher), Julian Assange (founder of Wikileaks), Jules A. Hoffmann (Winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize for Medicine), Jeremy Rifkin (Economic and social theorist), Alexander Stubb (former Prime Minister of Finland), Jared Diamond (Author of "Guns, Germs, and Steel), Angus Deaton (leading microeconomist), among other notables. She was also interviewed by News Talk 770 - Calgary's Breaking News and Conversation station. Nathalie worked as a marketing assistant for Allied MOXY on the Almost Christmas and Fences campaigns.

Nathalie worked as a director's assistant under Joshua Marston (Maria Full of Grace, Complete Unknown), on the Netflix movie Come Sunday. She worked as a producer's assistant under Mike Elliott on the Netflix movie Honey 4 and Unbroken: Path to Redemption. Recently, Nathalie worked an assistant to line producer Paul Garnes on the TBS show Miracle Workers (S1).
